Next big day for the lawyers is now set for Wednesday when, it’s been learned, the Canvassing Board will convene to, presumably, announce a decision on whether rejected absentee ballots will be part of the recount.
Al Franken’s campaign has been seeking this. The Coleman campaign has said that’s never been done.
The board, chaired by Secretary of State Mark Ritchie and also consisting of four judges, took the matter under advisement earlier this week.
The Coleman campaign is citing an opinion by the Minnesota attorney general’s office that the absentee ballots should only be counted after the recount. Franken campaign has filed a response to the Canvassing Board noting that the A.G.’s opinion is flawed.
Meanwhile, the recount goes on.
