Today’s Senate race theme is ‘New York, New York’

The two major-party Senate candidates use their New York connections today to get campaign help.

Republican Sen. Norm Coleman, who grew up in New York, will campaign with former New York City Mayor Rudy Guliani today at O’Gara’s Bar & Grill in St. Paul at 4 p.m.

Al Franken joins Democratic Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton at the University of Minnesota-Duluth’s Romano Gym for a 3:45 p.m. rally. (Romano Gym? It was not named for comedian Ray Romano, whose television series “Everybody Loves Raymond” was set in New York.)

As for Independence Party candidate Dean Barkley? One of his scheduled stops today is a noon meet-and-greet at Pizza Works & Deli in Annandale. Maybe they’ll serve New York-style pizza. Annandale, by the way, is less than 100 miles from New York Mills.

I thought that Ron Carey said that Minnesotans don’t like New York Style Poltics.
