Franken campaign calls for ‘intensive search’ to find missing Minneapolis ballots

With 133 votes from a Minneapolis precinct in student-heavy Dinkytown stll missing, the Al Franken campaign today reiterated its call for an “immediate and intensive search” for an envelope containing the ballots.

“The outcome of this election is at stake,” Franken lawyer Marc Elias just said at a news briefing. “There is no explanation for losing 133 votes … It is simply not acceptable.”

As the recount of the vote in Senate race between Franken and Sen. Norm Coleman nears a wrap-up, Elias said that he wants Secretary of State Mark Ritchie’s office to oversee the search.
