Duluth council pay won’t be halved

A proposal to cut the salary of Duluth City Council members — who make a tidy 10 grand a year — was rejected Wednesday by the city’s Charter Commission, says the Duluth News Tribune.

The vote was 8-1.

Commissioner Eli Miletich who proposed the cuts, was the only charter commissioner to support it. “I anticipated that was what was going to happen,” he said, suggesting fellow commissioners are more timid than he.

The city clerk reported that city council members in St. Cloud are paid $11,000 a year, $19,100 in Rochester and $12,400 in Bloomington.
