Mistake in bill to be rectified; Stearns County park land back in play

Oops.

Oops. A mistake in the writing of a bill during last year’s legislative session messed up the disbursement of $492,000 slated for the purchase of park land in Central Minnesota.

The Central Minnesota Regional Parks and Trails Coordination Board was designated as the fund recipient, but it legally cannot own land.

So legislators are pushing a technical correction early in the session: Rep. Larry Hosch, DFL-St. Joseph, and Sen. Michelle Fischbach, R-Paynesville, are sponsoring the do-over. They plan to appropriate the money directly to Stearns County so that 23 acres adjacent to Warner Lake Park can be integrated into the Central Minnesota Parks and Trails.
