Testimony was brief this morning as Al Franken’s lawyers brought in a handful of voter-witnesses and Ramsey County Elections Manager Joe Mansky also testified.

Franken’s side continues to bring in voters whose absentee ballots were rejected but who seem to have followed all the state rules.

This afternoon, lawyers will go at it over two key issues: Franken’s motion to dismiss almost all of Coleman’s case; and so-called “Rule 9,” which was established before the recount by both sides on how to handle possible duplicate ballots. Coleman’s side wants the rule to be rescinded now.

Franken’s side has claimed in legal papers that only a handful of the votes Coleman has offered to the court are legally valid. In general, Franken has claimed in written motions that Coleman didn’t prove his case enough to overturn Franken’s 225-vote recount lead.

The best and quickest explanation of Rule 9 comes midway through Rachel Stassen-Berger’s Pioneer Press report this morning.

Check back for more on today’s events and a wrap-up of Week Six of the trial later this afternoon.
