The flag atop the Minneapolis City Hall will fly at half staff until Wednesday as a memorial to Alice Rainville, the former City Council president who died Thursday.
Rainville served on the council for 22 years and was its first woman president. Rainville’s daughter, Barbara Johnson, is the current council president, representing the same north Minneapolis ward as her mother.
There will be a moment of silence at 9:40 a.m. during today’s council meeting in Rainville’s honor.
