There’s a bill in the Legislature that would authorize Sunday liquor sales, so the Austin Daily Herald asked three local liquor stores how they liked the idea.

The bill, sponsored by Rep. Tom Anzelc (DFL-Aitkin County), would dedicate the Sunday sales tax receipts to county social services for children.

One Austin liquor store owner said: “Monday through Saturday is enough time to sell liquor.”

“No way,” said another. “Why be open another day to sell liquor? We need a day off.”

A clerk at a third liquor store had no comment.

Customers weren’t polled.
