Efforts by Chris Bell to get more money to repair accessibility problems involving Minnesota roads, sidewalks and bridges got a nice mention in the St. Paul Legal Ledger thiis week.

Bell had hoped that a good chunk of the $500 million in federal money coming to Minnesota for transportation would be used to resolve violations of the Americans With Disabilities Act on many state and local roads and sidewalks, but was disappointed when only $2 million was earmarked for those efforts. He has filed a complaint with the federal Department of Justice.

Following Bell’s complaint, state transportation officials have said they will use an additional $10 million to make repairs, but it is not expected to be stimulus money.
