Meeting on Monday to discuss the effect of the stimulus package and state deficit on persons with disabilities

The effect of the federal stimulus and the state budget deficit on the disability community is the topic of a Monday Town Hall meeting, sponsored by the Minnesota State Council on Disability (MSCOD).

Representatives from the offices of U.S. Reps. Keith Ellison and Betty McCollum, will answer questions, as will someone from the state Transportation Department and a representative of the Consortium for Citizens with Disabilities.

Margot Imdieke Cross of MSCOD will discuss legislation pending in the Legislature, too.

(Disclosure: I do some reporting work for MSCOD at the state Capitol during the session.)

The meeting — 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Monday — will originate at the state Department of Human Services building, 444 Lafayette Road, St. Paul, in Room 5137. And there will be video-conferencing conducted at 10 locations around the state. It also will be available via web streaming. Locations and web-streaming URLs are at the MSCOD website.
