Minnesota and North Dakota elected officials will meet today at the Capitol in Washington, D.C., to discuss flood protection in the Red River area.
From Minnesota: Gov. Tim Pawlenty, U.S. Rep. Collin Peterson and U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar.
From North Dakota: Gov. John Hoeven, U.S. Sen. Byron Dorgan, U.S. Sen. Kent Conrad and U.S. Rep. Earl Pomeroy.
North Dakota, you’ll note, will have two senators at the meeting.
They’ll meet with the Army Corps of Engineers to speed up work on a permanent flood protection projects in the Red River basin. Others expected: Moorhead Mayor Mark Voxland; Fargo Mayor Dennis Walaker; Fargo Deputy Mayor Tim Mahoney; Cass County Commission Chair Robyn Sorum; as well as other city, county and state officials.
