Taxpayers League report card praises some Minnesota guv candidates, flunks others

The Taxpayers League of Minnesota — the group that made “no new taxes” a statewide mantra — posted its report card for the just-ended legislative session.

Based on the league’s indexing of several key tax-related votes in the House and Senate, six state eepresentatives scored a “perfect 100,” including Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmer of Delano.

Bruce Anderson, R-Buffalo Township, won his ninth “Best Friends of the Taxpayer” ribbon.

Gov. Tim Pawlenty and House Minority Leader Marty Seifert, who also is getting ready to run for the GOP nomination for governor, were chosen as “Heroes of the Taxpayer.”

Among the “Foes of the Taxpayer,” according to the Taxpayers League, are two often-mentioned DFL gubernatorial candidates, Speaker of the House Margaret Anderson Kelliher and Senate Tax Committee Chair Tom Bakk.

Does the Taxpayers League think that Minnesota’s citizens/voters really want ANOTHER PAWLENTY elected next year?

It would seem they do not and that they have yet to realize the essential wrongheadedness of their attitude toward the role of government in making life better for citizens and the role of honest, progressive taxation in making that betterment possible.
