Minnesota House Speaker Margaret Anderson Kelliher couldn’t make a forum with DFL gubernatorial candidates in a southern Minnesota pumpkin patch last weekend, but on Monday she did tour a dairy farm near Brainerd.
During the Minnesota Milk Producers Association farm tour, she mentioned that she was the 1985 Blue Earth County dairy princess, according to the Brainerd Dispatch.
And she said young people should be encouraged to farm: “Our jobs (as legislators) are important but they’re not the backbone of our state,” she said. “I truly believe there is a brighter future for dairy farmers in our state.”
Doesn’t sound from the dispatches like she spent much time pushing her gubernatorial ambitions on the rural crowd, even though she’s part of a large herd of potential candidates.
