Sherri Thomsen, executive director of the of the Minn-Kota chapter of the American Red Cross, says she’ll resign to spend more time with her children.
MPR reports that Thomsen worked for the American Red Cross for six years and coordinated this spring’s flooding in the Red River Valley.
“Changes and consolidation in our region have enabled us to decrease overhead while still serving our community,” Thomsen said in a statement. “I have enjoyed the opportunity to lead such fine staff members and volunteers through this growth. At the same time, I don’t want to look back one day and wish I’d had more time with my two little boys.”
During Thomsen’s tenure, the Minn-Kota chapter grew from one office serving twelve counties to seven offices serving all of North Dakota plus ten counties in Minnesota.
