Tornado damaged Minneapolis Convention Center; repairs should be finished soon

The Aug. 19 tornado activity that hit Minneapolis damaged a roof in the Minneapolis Convention Center complex, leading to water damage in Exhibit Hall B. Four dock doors and many pedestrian doors also were damaged.

Two thousand people were in the center when the storm hit, but no one was injured.

The damage estimate is $350,000 to $500,000.

Workers are on it, however, and expect to finish repairs by Sept. 7.

In the meantime, a few events are being moved and those nearby might notice late-night lights and work activity.
