Ex-congressman freed from federal custody in Rochester

A prison in Minnesota was home, until today, for convicted felon and former U.S. Rep. James Traficant of Ohio.

He walked out of the federal prison hospital in Rochester this morning after serving seven years for bribery and racketeering, says a report in the Rochester Post Bulletin.

He didn’t respond to reporters’ questions before getting into a cab.

There was no information on why he’d been transferred in 2004 to the medical facility.
