Assistant U.S. attorney named judge in Hastings

Erica H. MacDonald, an assistant U.S. attorney in Minneapolis, has been named a judge in Hastings. Gov. Tim Pawlenty appointed her to the First District bench to replace Judge Leslie Metzen, who retired last spring.

MacDonald, 42, of Mendota Heights, has been an assistant U.S. attorney since 2001. Her expertise is in human trafficking cases.

She is a Notre Dame graduate and earned her degree from DePaul University College of Law in Chicago in 1997. She lives in Mendota Heights with her husband, Jim, and two sons, Kenny 10, and Mitchell, 7.
