The award, to be given at this week’s NLC conference in San Antonio, Texas, comes with a $1,000 prize, which will be donated to a nonprofit organization. Burnsville officials said the plant is a collaboration between the city and the city of Savage, along with the state of Minnesota and Kraemer Mining and Materials.
Burnsville won in the 50,001-150,000 population category at the 2009 Congress of Cities & Exposition in San Antonio. Other cities getting awards will be Slidell, La.; Savannah, Ga.; Long Beach, Calif.; New York City; Estes Park, Colo.; St. Louis, Mo. and Seattle, Wash.
