Despite strong opposition from Vikings ownership, the full Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission today approved a resolution seeking a two-year lease agreement for the team at the Metrodome.
But that extension comes at a cost; under the language of the action, the Vikings would be liable for up to $4 million a year in rent that for the past nine years has been forgiven by the commission, the team’s landlord.

The stadium commission’s resolution to extend the Vikings lease by 2 years is predicated on a belief there’s no chance a Vikings stadium bill can be passed before the 2010 general election.
I happen to think a stadium deal that’s good for the Vikings and good for MN is possible during the next legislative session. Therefore, I think the commission’s resolution is 6 months premature.
I love how the Vikings are going to “suspend any further engagement with the MSFC.” That’ll show em!
