Despite a near-record thrashing in the 2008 5th District congressional race, conservative minister Barb Davis White will again take on Democratic incumbent U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison.

Minnesota Independent says that she actually announced her run two months ago, but it received very little attention.

Her website notes that while she garnered only 22 percent of the vote in 2008, it was, after all, her first campaign.

And a statement says:

In 2010, however, Davis White believes that the concern about the direction of the country and economy will overshadow party lines in favor of conservative fiscal policy and smaller government.

  1. You might want to add the statistic that 83.2% of Keith Ellison’s money comes from outside the state of Minnesota. An interesting fact especially when you see that the 5th District, even though it is not a rich district is one of the more generous districts in Minnesota. People in 5th district are donating but they aren’t donating to Keith’s campaign. So who is Keith Ellison representing? (Statistics from Smart Politics out of the U of M.)

I think it’s silly to imply that Congressman Ellison bought himself a landslide re-election using funds from outside the district. No, that wasn’t even a landslide, it was a massive blowout the likes that the district hasn’t seen in a generation. Did you see a single ad on TV for him? Where is the connection between where he raised his funds and why he won by so much??
