Senate Tax Committee to look at forecast, proposed amendment on state spending

The state Senate Tax Committee will meet Monday to review the distressing state budget forecast and Gov. Tim Pawlenty’s proposed constitutional amendment that would limit state spending.

The committee is chaired by Sen. Tom Bakk — one of the DFL hopefuls in next year’s governor’s race — and will meet at 10 a.m. in Room G-15 of the state Capitol.

It will be webcast by state Senate Media.

The Senate Tax Committee will be meeting during the same time as Pawlenty supporters rally in the Rotunda in support of his let’s-finish-killing-state-services-by-reducing-revenue amendment to the Constitution (9:30 to 11:00).
