St. Paul mayor’s deputy chief of staff heading to AFL-CIO

Kris Fredson, deputy chief of staff in St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman’s office, is packing his boxes in City Hall and will start his new job as political director for the Minnesota AFL-CIO next month.

Fredson had managed Coleman’s 2005 mayoral campaign and also served as the mayor’s labor liaison.

The Minnesota AFL-CIO says that, as political director, “Fredson will be responsible for planning and executing the federation’s Labor 2010 program to elect Minnesota AFL-CIO-endorsed candidates for governor, Congress and state Legislature in 2010.”

Minnesota AFL-CIO President Shar Knutson said: “Kris brings the labor experience and campaign know-how we need to take back the governor’s office for working families.”
