After Guard stint, Rep. Lesch reporting for legislative duty

State Rep. John Lesch, a DFLer from St. Paul, has been absent — but not AWOL — from the Legislature in its opening days, because he’s taking advanced infantry training in Georgia. But he’ll soon be back in action at the Capitol.

He joined the Minnesota National Guard last fall, and says on his Facebook page: “I completed basic training and starting in January 2010 I will begin the Advanced Infantry Training portion of OSUT. I will be back for legislative session.”

And his latest status: “John Lesch congratulates his colleagues on our first day of leg. session and looks forward to seeing them in MN after my Feb 10 infantry graduation.”

He represents District 66A in St. Paul, which covers Como Park, the North End and the East Side of St. Paul.
