DFLers invite Barney Frank to give Humphrey Day Dinner speech

Powerful and controversial Rep. Barney Frank of Massachusetts will speak at the Humphrey Day Dinner May 8 in Minneapolis.

Says DFL State Party Chair Brian Melendez:

“The Minnesota DFL Party is honored to welcome Chair Barney Frank as the keynote speaker for the 33rd Annual Hubert H. Humphrey Day Dinner.

“Through almost three decades in Congress, Chair Frank has been an outspoken and fearless advocate for Democratic principles. He has been an energetic advocate for civil rights, and was the second openly gay member of Congress. On the House Financial Services Committee, which he now chairs, he has championed consumer protection and reform of Wall Street. He has worked to provide affordable rental housing for his constituents, and been a strong supporter of health-insurance reform. We look forward to a lively presentation from a principled and spirited leader.”

The 33rd annual Hubert H. Humphrey Day will be at the Minneapolis Convention Center. The event will begin with a reception at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m. Tickets are available by going here.

I hope all DFL candidates for Governor get their photo standing with Barney Frank.
