MayKao Y. Hang will be the new president and CEO of the Amherst H. Wilder Foundation. She replaces longtime President Tom Kingston, who will retire July 1.
Hang has been Wilder’s director of Children and Family Services since 2007. She serves on the board of the St. Paul and Minnesota Community Foundations, and has been on the board of Regions Hospital and HealthPartners.
She’d previously been director of Adult Services for Ramsey County Human Services and director of resident services for the St. Paul Public Housing Agency.
Hang’s family immigrated from Laos when she was young. She grew up in St. Paul, graduated from Brown University in Rhode Island, has a M.A. in public affairs from the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs and is currently a doctoral candidate in public administration at Hamline University.
