New president takes over at Wilder Foundation

MayKao Y. Hang began work this week as the new president of the Amherst H. Wilder Foundation.

She replaces Tom Kingston, who retired after 30 years with the organization and 20 years as president.

Hang had been the foundation’s division director of Children and Family Services since 2007.

“It is a great honor to take the helm at the Wilder Foundation,” said Hang. “It is a historical moment for many reasons. In this new era of change and transition in the field of human services, I am proud to help guide the Wilder Foundation’s efforts to improve and strengthen our community.”

Also, Robyn Hansen, an attorney at Leonard Street and Deinard, was elected as Wilder’s board chair, replacing Elizabeth M. “Sandy” Kiernat, who stepped down after serving as chair since 2000.

The foundation, more than 100 years old, says it “combines direct service, research and community development to address the needs of the most vulnerable people in greater Saint Paul.”
