Pawlenty spokesman Brian McClung leaving to start his own PR firm

Brian McClung, the very visible spokesman for Gov. Tim Pawlenty, will leave his state job at the end of this week to run his own PR company — McClung Communications & Public Relations. He’ll also direct MN Forward, an independent expenditure political fund supported by Minnesota job providers.

The 37-year-old McClung started working for the governor six years ago, first as press secretary, then as director of communications in 2005. He became deputy chief of staff in 2009.

Bruce Gordon, a five-year veteran of the governor’s office, will become Pawlenty’s director of communications and the main spokesman, starting Monday.
