Service employees union may not endorse before DFL primary

A major state union is sitting out the DFL gubernatorial primary battle, the Star Tribune reports. A source told the paper that the SEIU, the Service Employees International Union, is taking a pass on an endorsement in the primary season.

So far, House Speaker Margaret Anderson Kelliher has garnered union support from laborers, teachers, nurses and professional state employees. Mark Dayton has AFSCME, the steelworkers union, the police and peace officers union and Teamsters Joint Council 32.

After the Aug. 10 primary, though, I’m sure the SEIU will get it’s people out stumping for the winning DFL candidate.
