MoveOn launches ad calling for Target boycott

This just in from MoveOn.org: a new ad encouraging a boycott of Target.

The organization calls the 30-second spot part of an ongoing campaign against Target Corp. for “trying to buy elections following [its] $150,000 donation in Minnesota Governor’s race on behalf of far-right state Rep. Tom Emmer.”

It said the ad will run on national cable and in Minnesota for a week.

MoveOn said it has gathered more than 260,000 signatures on a petition from members promising not to shop at Target.

“Target’s refusal to acknowledge its customers’ outrage at their attempt to buy elections is scandalous,” said Justin Ruben, executive sirector of MoveOn.org. “Americans have spoken: we don’t want corporations meddling in our democracy.”

So, if Target had given that $150,000 to MoveOn (or another left-leaning group), they’d still be running this ad, huh?

As someone who supports the action to let Target know that many people don’t think corporations are also people, I was delighted to receive from MoveOn.org this video of a Target protest, done, I hope, somewhere in the Twin Cities:
