We have all been here before. The eyes of the state might just turn to the State Canvassing Board. Again.

The first meeting is set for Aug. 17 to review the primary election results, including the close DFL gubernatorial race.

Chaired by Secretary of State Mark Ritchie, the board includes:

* Newly elevated Supreme Court Chief Justice Lorie Gildea;

* Recently appointed Associate Supreme Court Justice David Stras;

* Washington County District Court Judge Susan Miles;

* Ramsey County District Court Judge Gregg Johnson.

Gildea and Stras were appointed by Gov. Tim Pawlenty. Miles was elected to an open seat in 1996. Johnson was appointed by Republican Gov. Arne Carlson in 1992.
