VP Biden expected to campaign here for Dayton

Vice President Joe Biden is likely to come to Minnesota to campaign and raise money this fall for Mark Dayton, the DFL candidate for governor.

Don Davis of the Fargo Forum said Dayton has also invited President Obama but isn't sure the president will come.

Raising money will be an issue for Dayton in the general election campaign, and Biden's presence would help. Most of the $3 million he spent on the primary came from his own pocket, and the costs will only go up from here.

According to Davis, Dayton said he needs to raise money before airing his next set of television commercials, but Dayton wouldn't say if he'll try to use his own money to pay for most of the general election campaign.

I'll not be the only Minnesotan upset with Dayton if he used his personal fortune to capture the nomination and then fails to mount a proper campaign for November due to lack of funds.

James, I think inviting Biden is an excellent idea; holding the fundraiser at "Knuckleheads Comedy Club" would be a stroke of genius.
