Would knowing the DFL candidates’ choice of iPod music alter your vote?

If you’ve already voted, no, you can’t change your mind.

But if you haven’t voted, here’s another piece of information that might affect your decision-making.

In response to questions from the Minnesota Citizens for the Arts, the DFL gubernatorial candidates revealed what kind of music they have on their iPods. You can check out their answers to other arts-related questions on the group’s website.

Here are the musical tastes of the candidates, according to the candidates themselves.

Mark Dayton: the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Pachelbel’s Canon.

Matt Entenza: Brother Ali and Atmosphere, REM, and Green Day.

Margaret Anderson Kelliher: Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings; Johnny Cash, the Rolling Stones, Beethoven and music from the TV show “Glee.”

That’s kind of perfect. Dayton is milquetoast and old (Pachelbel = really boring!)… Entenza is trying too hard to be local and popular w/ Atomsphere & Green Day, and only MAK seems to have distinctive (and good) taste.

There is about a zero percent chance that Matt Entenza really likes Atmosphere.

Mr. Lindeke: Can you really listen to the Pachelbel Canon and not marvel at its freshness no matter how many times you hear it? I doubt it will ever grow old.

I agree with Bernice. I mean, just look at “Graduation” by Vitamin C! That stuff is still hip! Also, “music from glee” leaves a somewhat sour taste in my mouth.
