Alliance begins airing sixth anti-Emmer TV ad

The independent expenditure group The Alliance for a Better Minnesota has taken another shot at GOP gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmer.

The Alliance, which has raised about $3 million to define Emmer’s conservative stances, has started running its sixth television ad of the campaign.

In the 30-second commercial, DFL candidate Mark Dayton’s education plans are compared to Emmer’s. The face and voice is a suburban white woman. She’s from Eagan, home of Gov. Tim Pawlenty.

The Alliance said in a release today that the commercial will run for the next 12 days and cost about $500,000 to air.

“The face and voice is a suburban white woman.”

Honest to God. Where else, in 21st Century America, would you read something like that but either a white supremacist or a leftist web site?

The ad would have been more effective had it used Emmer’s own approach to the education budget, rather than citing a $1.8 billion reduction based on the assumed cost for the next biennium, based on current funding and programs. Emmer wins this round, IMO.
