Burnsville Mayor Elizabeth Kautz heads to Washington, D.C., this week, where, in her role as president of the U.S. Conference of Mayors, she’ll lead a national discussion on problems facing cities.

Fifty other mayors from around the country will be there to hear from such leaders as U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, U.S. Treasurer Rosie Rios, Congressional Urban Caucus Chair Chaka Fattah, U.S. Senator Mark Begich and national pollster John Zogby.

Topics they’ll discuss:

  • Transportation
  • Infrastructure
  • Community Development Block Grants
  • Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grants
  • Green job creation
  • Small business

The sessions are Thursday and Friday at the St. Regis Hotel.
