Council of Nonprofits gets grant to help nonprofits manage

A $220,000 grant from the Corporation for National and Community Service will help the the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits offer management assistance to nonprofits in northern Minnesota.

MCN will launch a Nonprofit Performance Management Institute to “provide a structure, appropriate tools and resources and technical assistance” to help “small to mid-sized nonprofits to take meaningful steps toward implementing appropriate performance management strategies and systems in their organizations.”

The Institute will provide individual coaching, technical assistance, small group learning and peer discussion for nonprofit managers.

“Minnesota nonprofits are under tremendous pressure to serve their communities with diminished resources. Leaders of these organizations have a difficult job, yet are remarkably resilient,” said Jon Pratt, MCN executive director. “With this grant to launch a Nonprofit Performance Institute, MCN will offer nonprofits in the hardest hit parts of the state a venue to bring their best thinking, test new ideas, and ultimately strengthen their performance without burning out.”
