DFL gets Petty … Tom Petty, that is … with Tom Emmer

To the heartfelt and ironic words and music of Tom Petty, the Minnesota DFL poked Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmer today with a new YouTube video.

Called “The Wait for a Plan,” the DFL — deftly using its tracker videos — traces Emmer’s episodes of not offering specifics to questioners. The trail begins in May and continues through Emmer’s Monday news conference about his jobs creation agenda.

Maybe the DFL is learning from the state GOP, which has tended to be a bit more acerbic. This Petty assault is one with a good beat.

The Democrat party releases a parody about waiting for Emmer’s plan the day after he starts releasing it….that is comedy gold Bill!

Umm. Swifffft. You do realize this early segment of his “plan” adds $600 mil to the deficit?

I can’t wait for the next installment of supply side fairy dust.

The tiny baby step that Rep. Emmer took to dip his toe into the budget waters, consists of tax cuts that are not paid for. The prudent folks I know, call it deficit spending.

A tax break is never a tax break. It’s a tax increase for all the rest.

Check out this piece from the Washington Post titled “The Unshared Recovery” That nicely lays out he state of today’s American worker. It explains quite deftly how American business are not reinvesting their income. So the money is there to reinvest unlike Emmer would like us to believe it’s just being hoarded no double entendre intended. So the candidates argument is specious.

What Emmer announced on Monday was a plan in the same way a fat kid sitting on a sofa watching a baseball game “plans” to be a major league ball player. At best if was a pipe dream – not even a good or lucrative one. First, it won’t do what he says it will. Second, it’s essentially unfunded ADDITIONAL tax breaks for the rich. Finally, even his own party, let alone the Democrats, wouldn’t let him implement the preamble.
