Islamic Institute of Minnesota urges unity on 9/11 anniversary

Amin Kader, president of the Islamic Institute of Minnesota, issued this statement for the ninth anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks:

“On this anniversary of the sad event that took place on 9/11, we reinforce our stand of deploring this vicious and cowardly act that did away with the lives of many innocent people. So, on this occasion we say to those extremists and to whoever shares their ideology that their acts did not succeed in dividing this country. We tell them that we shall rebuild with better than what they demolished. This country will remain united as Americans of different faiths; Christians, Jews, Muslims and others.

“We also call upon our fellow American citizens to not fall into the trap that extremists set for us to divide us. Let us not forget that the 9/11 attack targeted all Americans of all faiths. The innocent who died were of all faiths including Muslims. We call upon our fellow Americans to stand against any act that will lead to the division of our united society including any act of desecrating religious symbols.”
