It’s a busy month for political television ads, with the emotional and increasingly nasty pleas for votes (or denigrations of character) in the governor’s race and 6th District congressional battle.
But the television stations have to make room for other candidates, too, and joining the air wars this week are Secretary of State Mark Ritchie and State Auditor Rebecca Otto.
No attack ads here: Both take the high road, as incumbents feeling safe are wont to do.
Ritchie’s ad running on two Twin Cities stations, refers to his role in the Coleman/Franken race: “We brought integrity and fairness to the closest election in 50 years. And the Minnesota Supreme Court unanimously agreed, we got it right.”
Otto’s ad, also scheduled on two Twin Cities stations, notes that she cut her own office’s funding and has worked to increase efficiency in government, and found “hundreds of millions of dollars in errors” in local government reports and cleaned them up.
