Mark Dayton’s recount manager Ken Martin and chief lawyer Charlie Nauen just reported that challenges from Rep. Tom Emmer’s camp statewide are few and an early skirmish in Hennepin County was resolved quickly.
The first day of the recount is going “very smoothly,” said Martin.
As of 2:30 p.m., according to Dayton collected data, only 398 votes out of about 400,000 recounted had been challenged. Of those, 364 were from the Emmer side; and 226 of those were ruled frivolous by local election judges.
Only 138 Emmer challenges and 34 Dayton challenges were deemed valid.
Emmer has picked up 51 votes, Dayton 88; Dayton has picked up 37 votes net.
More later, but earlier reports of trouble spots have been resolved.
