While we wait for the governor’s race recount to officially start, there’s one Minnesota recount already under way.
In Cass County, the sheriff’s race ended with Chief Deputy Sheriff Tom Burch holding a 47-vote lead over Walker Police Chief Wayne “Bubba” Tennis. Tennis asked for a recount, which begins today.
Unofficial results, according to the Brainerd Dispatch:
- Burch — 6,203
- Tennis — 6,156
- Write-in votes — 26
Because the margin is within one-half of 1 percent, there is no cost to the candidates for the recount.
Incumbent Sheriff Randy Fisher did not seek re-election.
