Sarah Palin’s made-up word “refudiate” has been named the Word of the Year by the New Oxford American Dictionary.
Palin used the word — apparently a mash-up of refute and repudiate — in a tweet last summer. It’s another tidbit of publicity for the former Alaska governor, whose ability to stay in the news can’t hurt in a likely 2012 presidential bid.
Our own possible GOP presidential contender, Gov. Tim Pawlenty, gets credit in many arenas for creating a phrase of his own — using real words. He’s been using Sam’s Club conservative, or Sam’s Club Republican, for at least two years, to distinguish himself from country-club Republicans.
