Frivolous ballot challenge review is complete; 99 percent tossed

“The recount’s over,” Mark Dayton lawyer Charlie Nauen said at 2:43 p.m. today.

That was the dagger in the final re-examination of alleged frivolous challenges in Hennepin County.

When all was said and done, out of 2,604 frivolous challenges made by Rep. Tom Emmer’s side, only 24 remained after today’s review by teams of lawyers for both candidates.

Said Nauen:  “Ninety-nine-percent-plus were indeed frivolous.”

“When all was said and done, …”

Well, Jay, there’s an “anonymous” saying that goes: When all is said and done, there’s more said than done.

Naturally, this whole “recount” thing is very unpleasant; and anybody could have predicted it as (to use another cliched phrase,) an exercise in futility.

But, a consolation …. The Emmer recount team can hope to be guests of “Count Count” on Sesame Street!
