Gov. Mark Dayton has named tax attorney Myron Frans as the new state commissioner of Revenue.

Frans, of the Minneapolis law firm Faegre & Benson, won’t start full time right away, likely waiting until April to take the helm. That darn busy tax season.

He’ll advise the governor, though, and in the meantime, Deputy Commissioner Dan Salomone will run the office. Salomone was once revenue commissioner under Gov. Tim Pawlenty.

Franz has been a tax attorney for 27 years, the governor’s office said.
