Hennepin, Ramsey elected officials to be sworn in Tuesday

Hennepin and Ramsey County officials who were elected or re-elected in November will be sworn in Tuesday.

In Hennepin County, incumbents won all the slots: four commissioners — Mike Opat, 1st District; Mark Stenglein, 2nd District; Gail Dorfman, 3rd District; and Peter McLaughlin, 4th District — were all re-elected. So were County Attorney Mike Freeman and Sheriff Rich Stanek.

All six will be sworn in Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Board Room of the Hennepin County Government Center.

Ramsey County voters re-elected all four county commissioners on the ballot — Janice Rettman, District 3, (who was unopposed); Toni Carter, District 4; Rafael Ortega, District 5; and Jim McDonough, District 6, (also unopposed).

But voters chose Matt Bostrom over 16-year veteran Sheriff Bob Fletcher,and John Choi won the race for county attorney, after Susan Gaertner stepped down after 16 years on the job.

The Ramsey County swearing-in ceremony is at the county board’s 9 a.m. meeting Tuesday at City Hall/Courthouse. There’s an 8 a.m. reception for the elected officials in the lower concourse.
