Eagle-eyed Tim Nelson of MPR noted some new facial foliage on many legislators when they showed up Tuesday at the Capitol for the new session.

I’d seen John Harrington’s new hirsute look earlier in the day at the St. Paul swearing-in of Sheriff Matt Bostrom and County Attorney John Choi, but Nelson found a whole beard gallery and shows them in his post: Reps. Mark Buesgens (R-Jordan), Tony Cornish (R-Good Thunder), Kent Eken (DFL-Twin Valley), Sen. John Harrington (DFL-St. Paul), and Reps. Terry Morrow (DFL-St. Peter) and Tony Sertich (DFL-Chisolm).

The item also brings some comments about other hair-raising moments at the Capitol over the years, and a report that in 1909 there were 16 bearded members, but 90 more had mustaches.
