Sports Facilities chairman appointment expected today

The point person for Gov.

The point person for Gov. Mark Dayton on stadium matters is expected to be announced today.

Dayton’s choice for chairman of the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission, which owns and operates the Metrodome and also has statutory responsibility for retaining pro football in the state, will be announced.

Among names being talked at the Capitol Thursday as candidates were: former state senator and Metropolitan Council chairman Ted Mondale; former Rep. Loren Solberg; and current commission chairman Roy Terwilliger.

The Star Tribune this morning is reporting that Mondale is the “only finalist” for the job.
