A trade group from Bahrain has decided to return home early because of Egypt-like demonstrations there, causing the cancellation of a Wednesday speech at the Economic Club of Minnesota.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Essa Al Khalifa, the chief executive of Bahrain’s Economic Development Board, had been scheduled to speak tomorrow at the Economic Club’s February luncheon. He was in the United States with a trade delegation meeting with business leaders in Phoenix and Minneapolis.

But the Economic Club announced today: “It is with regret and after much consideration that the Bahrain delegation has taken the decision that it would be most appropriate for them to cut short their trip in the USA and return home.”
