DFL Party to elect leaders Saturday in Cokato

DFL Party leaders will meet Saturday in Cokato to elect officers.

DFL Party leaders will meet Saturday in Cokato to elect officers. Chief on the agenda, replacing Party Chair Brian Melendez, who announced in December he wouldn’t seek another term.

Veteran politico Ken Martin has been actively campaigning for the party chair job; he and Marge Hoffa, who is running for associate chair, appeared together last month at the CD2 party meeting and were endorsed by that group.

Martin has been thought to have the inside track: He was executive director of WIN Minnesota, which funded some of the ads in Mark Dayton’s gubernatorial campaign, and he also headed Dayton’s recount team.

Five party leadership elections are on the agenda: state chair, associate chair, secretary, treasurer, and affirmative action officer.
