Susan Gaertner, who served as Ramsey County attorney for 16 years, has joined the Gray, Plant, Mooty law firm, where she’ll specialize in litigation, complex investigations and white collar defense.
She’d been a prosecutor for her entire career and is credited with being the first to introduce DNA evidence to a jury in an 1989 case.
She did not run for re-election as county attorney last year, instead mounting a campaign for governor. She withdrew, though, early in the race.
Among her legal awards: the American Bar Association’s Norm Maleng Minister of Justice Award in 2009, the Minnesota State Bar Association’s Prosecutor of Excellence Award in 2007, and the Minnesota County Attorney Association’s Distinguished Service Award in 2004.
Gray, Plant, Mooty is based in Minneapolis, with offices in St. Cloud and Washington, D.C.
