Minnesota has a new chief information officer: Carolyn Parnell was named head of the Office of Enterprise Technology today by Gov. Mark Dayton.
Parnell, who’s mission will be to “help improve government through the effective use of information technology,” is currently chief operating officer for Information Technology Services for the Minnesota System of Colleges and Universities (MnSCU).
The governor’s office said that Parnell, while at MnSCU, saved the state “millions of dollars in consulting costs while improving worker output.”
She’s also previously worked as director of information technology at Minnesota Public Radio/American Public Media, as well as serving as the director of networks and data centers at Fidelity National Information Systems and as the director of networking and telecommunications services at the University of Minnesota.
